Join us for this beneficial session designed to support families in navigating the special education process. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the special education process in depth as they learn about:
- how students are referred for special education evaluations
- how Virginia defines educational disabilities
- how determinations regarding special eligibility are made
- the role of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in providing supports and services to students
- the reevaluation process
- the roles and rights of parents throughout the process
- how parents can prepare for active participation in special education meetings
- effective tools to build collaborative relationships between families and school-based team members
