April SEPTA Meeting Brings Speakers on Peer Education & NeuroMovement Therapy

11 Apr By Maria Votsch Leave a Comment

Autism Awareness Ribbon

Please join us this Thursday, April 14, for the monthly Arlington Special Education PTA Meeting, 7-8:30 pm at the Syphax Education Center, 2110 Washington Blvd. Suite 101, Arlington, VA  22204.

The Organization for Autism Research (OAR), along with Arlington Public Schools’ Autism Specialist Deborah Hammer, will discuss OAR’s school-based peer education program, “What’s Up With Nick”?  This innovative program, geared toward grades 3-8, helps facilitate student-led lessons designed to educate neurotypical students about their autistic peers in an easily accessible, kid-friendly style.

In addition, therapist Faith Halter will talk with us about the Anat Baniel Method, a NeuroMovement approach with the potential to help children with autism.

Light refreshments will be served and parking, as always, is free.  See you there!
