Building Flexibility and Resilience in Children and Teens with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Here is a great resource  put together for the Alexandria City Public Schools. Many parents have found the work of Dr. Lauren Kenworthy to be helpful. (Dr. Kenworthy is one of the authors of the Unstuck and On Target curriculum).   This series is for parents, with videos translated into Spanish, Amharic, and Arabic.

The Alexandria City Public Schools Special Education Parent Resource Center has compiled a series of videos about topics of interest to parents of students with special needs. View the series in English, Spanish, Amharic and Arabic.

Lauren Kenworthy, PhD, kicks off our series with a session on autism for Autism Acceptance Month, titled “BuildingFlexibility and Resilience in Children and Teens with Autism SpectrumDisorders.”  Dr. Kenworthy is an associate professor of Neurology, Pediatrics and Psychiatry at The George Washington University School of Medicine, and director of the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Children’s National Health System.

The programs are available on ACPS-TV’s YouTube channel, where you can watch a version in English, Spanish, Amharic or Arabic.

For those of you in Alexandria, the series will air on ACPS-TV, Channel 71 on cable.

English language editions of the programs will debut on Mondays at 8pm, and be repeated on Tuesdays at 1pm, Saturdays at10am, and on Sundays at 8 pm.

Spanish language editions will be debuted on Wednesdays at1pm, and repeated later in the day at 8pm, on Saturdays at 10am, and on Sundays at 4pm. 

 The programs in Amharic will debut on Thursdays at 1pm with repeats scheduled for Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 4pm, and on Sundays at 6pm.

 In Arabic, the shows will debut on Fridays at 1pm, with a repeat later that night at 10pm, and subsequent repeats on Saturdays at6pm and Sundays at 2pm.
