“I’m Determined” Presentation to Highlight February 11 SEPTA Meeting

8 Feb By Maria Votsch Leave a Comment

Handicapped, but not heartless

Please join us this Thursday, February 11, from 7-8:30 pm, for our monthly SEPTA meeting at the Syphax Education Center. Arlington Public Schools Autism Specialist Deborah Hammer will present an overview of I’m Determined, a Virginia Department of Education initiative designed to help students practice self-determination by providing resources to parents, teachers, and youth. As a special treat, students from Yorktown High School will then share how they have utilized aspects of I’m Determined in their daily lives.

Current SEPTA leadership will preview some exciting opportunities for getting involved and provide updates on membership, fundraising and budget.

And finally, SEPTA member, parent and inclusion leader Tauna Szymanski will give us an update on recent activities of the Arlington Inclusion Task Force.

It’s a Valentine’s Week evening not to be missed! See you there.
