Local Boy with Autism Rocks Out!

24 Apr By Maria Votsch Leave a Comment

In honor of Autism Awareness Month, we thought we’d share some inspirational videos forwarded to us by local mom, Millie Thomas.  As parents of children with special needs, many of us have been in the position of watching our children struggle with an illness or an unexpected challenge without knowing why it’s happening, when it might abate, or how we can help.  Millie tells us that for a period of two years, her son Bryn, who has autism and uses assistive technology to communicate, was unwell for reasons that dozens of doctors’ visits could not explain.  Ultimately, Millie and her son’s teacher, Annie Vincent, figured it out, but Millie was inspired to write “Bryn’s Song: The Puzzle” to share their experience with his puzzling illness.  Being a budding musician himself, Bryn went into the recording studio with Millie and guitarist Michael Fath, played with the band, and helped record the back track for the song!

In the first video, Bryn and his teacher Annie introduce the song (see March 31 video). And in the second video, you can see the band performing Bryn’s Song: The Puzzle. More information about the song, Bryn, and the band, Mystery-T, is available at the links.

Thank you to Millie, Bryn, Annie, and Mystery-T for sharing their story and their music with us!
